The one thing they fear is becoming corrupted themselves, as they can and will cause great destruction if they themselves fall.īlackspace isn’t just a threat to Dreamers, it’s a threat to Headspace and reality itself. They basically carry out the duty of protecting dreamers, Headspace, and it’s inhabitants in any way possible, even if that means more drastic and immoral methods have to be taken. If they aren’t currently busy they spend their time searching for and crushing any encroaching bit of Blackspace, or Headspace denizens corrupted by Something. They usually lord over one area, and serve as it’s de facto ruler. Guardians are beings bestowed with great power by dreamers and have the duty of maintaining, guarding, and healing Headspace from the corruption of Blackspace and Something. Guardians would know immediately, as they have a symbiotic connection with dreamers to begin with. Outback are aware of dreamers and their power to shape Headspace, but most would be unaware of ignorant of it.

Whether or not the inhabitants of Headspace would be aware of the power that Dreamers have and would treat them like gods walking amongst them is a bit more ambiguous though. It can be corrupted by Black Space/Something if a Dreamer isn’t careful, so one must always be vigilant in taking care of their White Space. White Space is the entrance and exit for Headspace, that also functions as a safe area that dreamers can return to if they focus hard enough. When first arriving in Headspace, Dreamers enter White Space, although it might not be white or as empty as the one seen in-game, again it’s different for each dreamer and becomes whatever is the most soothing/calming for them. Although very uncommon, and mostly occurring in people with more expansive imaginations, If the avatar becomes too much of an independent being with it’s own thoughts, feelings, and personality, then a mental disconnect between the avatar and Dreamer occurs, resulting in the avatar becoming an entity completely separate from the Dreamer, leaving the Dreamer as just themselves in Headspace. Working in the EXP and leveling system in the game here too, Avatars get stronger the more enemies they defeat and skills they learn. When visiting Headspace, Dreamers use an avatar that is based on both their personalities and how they subconsciously desire to be seen by others. Places like Deep Well would also be extremely dangerous, as the memory loss would also affect your real self as well as your Headspace avatar. There would also be many more forgotten places like the lost library, places shaped by long dead dreamers where records, logs, and echoes of their thoughts, memories, and feelings can still be found. Going off of “my thoughts will follow you into your dreams,” I propose that the spirits of the dead can also enter and interact with Headspace, although in a very limited way. Headspace is a realm or separate reality shaped by the minds of all the dreamers who have ever visited it, so there’s more inhabitants, places, and creatures/nightmares then in the game itself because of there being multiple dreamers.

Headspace is also a more overtly supernatural, dangerous, and eldritch place that has existed for nigh on millennium, and has been accessed by many people centuries before Sunny and friends were even born. Basically, outside of Mari, all the Headspace versions of characters are actually just the avatars they use while dreaming and accessing Headspace. In this Omori AU, everything that happens in canon is the same, but instead of being Sunny’s personal fantasy, Headspace is actually a separate universe, reality, plane of existence that Sunny, his friends, and perhaps even other people, have been visiting in their dreams for years.
